.Week 10 (Report).

.

Mr Mustapha Muzer shows us a slide that contains a lot of picture than words.
This week’s topic is.. ‘What is happening in the world around Agency 1.0?’
I guess Agency 1.0 is the time where people advertise their products using a traditional way.
On his slide, I can find a lot of statistics.

25% of our population is raised in a time where SPAM and COOKIES don’t automatically conjure food.
That triggers me a bit.

In US,    56% spends 1 hour daily sending IM (instant message).
25% prefer using social networks to communicate than face to face.
              96% use social networks daily.

In South Africa (SA),       49% spends an hour sending IM.
                                         80% watch news.
28% view news from cell phone.
                                         21% view news using desktop.
79% spends 2 hours on internet.
41% spends 2 hours watching television.

Then, Mr Mustapha Muzer shows us a picture of a broken television.
He said that is what yesterday news become. Nobody wants to watch it.
I guess that is what Agency 1.0 is. Something that is old and lame, that nobody likes it anymore.
And then he said.. “Whatever that our grandparent see are no longer around.”

Next, he shows us some interesting chart.
On the x axis, there are some types of people.

Creator – Person who upload or posting some contents on internet. Bloggers, YouTubers, etc..
Critics – Of course they are the people who leave some comments on the contents.
Collector – Somebody who follows the blog, or subscribed into something. I’m not really sure if they downloading something would also make them a collector.
Joiner – People who visit a social site and joining a club.
Spectator – Person who read the blog or watch the video.
Inactive – Didn't active on internet.

What’s interesting is, number of all type of people listed was increasing in the surveyed year except for 'Inactive'. They become lesser than before. Why? Of course they had transformed into somebody else on the rest of the type on the list.

Mr Mustapha Muzer did say something about Clutter.
An on his slide was written 73% of web user left their favorite website because of an intrusive ads.
That’s scared me.
What if we put our ads on some website, yet people find it intrusive. I don’t want to be that.

Now we've got to the topic advertising.
‘Advertising lies’. That’s what people TRUST. Lol.

49% of consumers in SA (76% US) don’t believe that companies tell the truth in advertising.
63% (vs 78%) trust the recommendation of other consumers above ads.

Here comes the interesting part.
Social Media – Your brand isn't what you say it is. It’s what they say it is.
Get it? It means if you say your product is good, it’s not. Until a bunch of consumer try it and tell the other consumer and they ended up believing it, and then it becomes good.

Mr Mustapha Muzer shows us a colorful chart that looks like a peacock tail.
It was titled ‘Social Media FAQ’.
Well, FAQ was usually means ‘Frequently Asked Question’.
But I’m not sure what it supposed to be in this topic.
This is the content.

Facebook users – 50 000 000
YouTube accounts – 55 000 000
713 000 daily active of iLike
3 500 pictures added to flickr per minute

That’s quite a number..

And for the last one, is about online running club from Nike.
If they had started it online, people will see it, participate, try their products and tell others about it.
The others will believe the consumers recommendation and try it too.

It works.

25m active community members
94% recommended Nike
40% of people that didn't own their products ended up buying it.

…………………………………..

After a few more brief, class ended.
Mr Radzi Bedu comes in and briefed us about the next assignment. Yay!

.Week 9 (Creative Facebook Timeline Cover).

.

This week, I will present a creativity from a famous social network, Facebook.

Seems like those noobs are kind of hating facebook new interface again, and asking Mark to change facebook's interface back like the previous one that they even hate before.

Aaahh.. Just a bunch of noob being noob. Well, we need to with the flow right?
Try new thing.

So for the creative people, they have their own way to make facebook timeline as an interesting thing.
This is what I found in internet.
Enjoy..

Must. Eat. Their. Brain.
-sincerely, zombie-

Seriously? Did their brain really are colorful?
I wonder.

.Week 9 (Assignment).

.Week 9 (Report & What I Learned).

.

Creativity in Art Design & Multimedia.

I this week, Mr Yap Sau Bin introduced us to 'Dadaist'.
What I can get is, dadaist is a type of surrealism which also have the same concept as juxtaposition.
Dadaist is a process of photo montage.

Photo montage is combining more than one picture into something else.
Usually those pictures has nothing to do each other. Even the output are making quite non sense at all.
By in art, it does really matter.

Some photo montage he had shown us is a picture of a guy with the his chest opened and his lungs was shown.
It is something that are making no sense and we will never see in real life.
That's what dadaist is.

Dadaist is something that are not real, but it sounds like the real thing when people keep telling others about it.
For example, he said a student trying to convince everyone that he already did his paper work but some snake with a lion head eat his paper. It makes no sense. But if he keep telling people about it, people can start to relate his story and it started to make sense. There comes the invention of dragons.

Just some of the example of dadaist.

............................................................................

Mr Yap Sau Bin once again creating a weird things using some random stuff he found in class.
He use his shoes and borrow some student's shoes. He put the shoes on the chair's leg. Then he poke some strange pole on the chair diagonally. He finally formed some weird thing.

This is pretty much exactly how it looks like.

Awkward looking stuff.
The class started to laugh and he said..

"What?? Do you know what is this? Then why are you laughing? Did you see something?"

Okay so that's juxtaposition. And what I did on the photo is photo montage which is dadaist.
But in the modern way, photoshop.

.Week 8 (Creative Cupcakes Decoration).

.

This week, Im gonna post something yummy.
Yup, it's cupcakes.

I have subscribed to a creative channel on youtube named yoyomax12.
The woman in the video are kind of a good cook. But I'm attracted to her talent on decorating cupcakes.

For the first, I will share a few of cupcakes picture that I found around the internet.
Brace yourself.

This is a cute cupcake. But can I call it normal?
Yes. This is a normal cupcake.

It does looks 'something', but this isn't creative enough for me.
It's still easy to do right?

Now this is what I call creative.
Rather than just using a concept of ice-cream and waffle, I love how they can 'built up' the cupcake.

This is the easier version to understand what I mean.
They are like putting the real thing on the cupcakes.
Of course you are not thinking that they are putting a lipstick on the cupcakes.
What creative here is, they use candies, creams and other foods to create an illusions.

So there comes a lawn mowers.
I guess they are using chocolates.

Some Halloween stuff.

Beach. Of course it's not a real sand.
But I like this idea. I combines three cupcakes.

Another Halloween stuff.

Cookie monster.
I really love this idea.
You're having a cupcake? You'll get a free cookie.

This panda-monium.
I'm so gonna do this.
It's actually something simple. But it looks really good.
I guess they may use an ice-cream for the panda's head.

The next idea would be a cupcake as a food.

Spaghetti and meatball.

Sushi.

Chicken, soup and mix veggies.
I think it's getting weirder..

Popcorn.

And.. A corn..
What is wrong with these people..

Some of the link on youtube.

.Week 8 (Stop Smoking + Traffic Light).

.

Regarding the random word/images association we have learned, now its assignment time.

We need to create a way to make people stop smoking by using the idea of traffic light.
As Mr Radzi Bedu remind us, not to combine problem and random word.

So this is my idea.

Color
Instead of just painting the cigarettes in yellow to make it look disgusting, I suggest to put some coloring agent in the cigarettes to make the color gone permanent on the smoker's lips. So it may turn their lips into green or yellow. That's awful. But I don't suggest to create the red cigarettes because it may cause more women to smokes.

Color (again)
(Once again) Instead of just making a colored meter on the cigarettes, why don't we make a cigarettes that really are changing it color. To make my idea more interesting, the cigarettes are white. Right when the smoker lit the cigarettes, it turns green. After a half of smoking period, it changes it color into yellow. When they are smoking too much, it turns red and KABOOM!! it explodes. Not a big explosion.. They'll definitely stop smoking after all because they are all dead. Just a small one. But big enough to give them a trauma. Lol this is fun.

Button
We know there's a button on the traffic light. When we press the button, it will allow us to cross the road. Why don't we make a cigarettes box that we need to push the button to open it. But you know, not all of the button on traffic light really working. Lol. So if they aren't that lucky, they will ended up buying a box (of cigarettes) that are having a broken button.  This may sound silly, but it will waste their money so they will stop buying it.

.

.Week 8 (What I learned).

.

This week, I have learned how to generate an idea from just a word.

We need to be creative to do this. Extremely creative.
I think we can use the associate mind mapping technique to do this.

I have learned that we can always create a thousands of idea if we want to.
But we can only choose one of it to become reality.
So we need to look for an idea that are the most...

. Simple
. Solve problem
. Cost less

I think I will use that advise.

A part of that, I have learned that we cant just see in one direction.
We need to look around to find a better idea.
We need to look how other people works and live their life.
That is why we can try to get a random word and create a new idea by elaborating the words using the technique of mind mapping.

I've mention that Mr Radzi Bedu shows us a picture of him and a map.
After I understand what is he trying to say, he got one point that triggers me a bit.

The student is the reason he sees a new things in the world that he never seen before.
But the student wont be in his story when he was asked what did he see every day.
Of course he wont tell anyone that he isn't that macho because he scared of his own student.

That is how people solve a problem.
We may get stuck in the middle. It makes us thinks a new way to solve it.
At the same time, we will learn new things.
But of course we wont tell the world how fucked up we are in the progress of making those master piece.

But still, how to get a good idea?
We need to create a tons of silly, crazy, nonsense and stupid idea.
A clear and a good idea never innovate. It will never turns out to be a better idea.
It will only be a stereotype, typical and boring idea.
We need to take a risk to invent a better things.

.

.Week 8 (Report).

.

Random words/images association.

-Systematically generate new ideas. Use random words to provoke reaction from the brains.-

That is what I got from Mr Radzi Bedu' first slide.
This time, we learn how to generate idea by getting even just one word at the beginning.
How ever, the idea must be..

. Simple
. Solve problem
. Didn't cost much

We can have a thousands of idea. But we can only do one of it.

As example, he shows us a picture of him stranded on an island. He need to find a way to get away.
About ten student give him the idea. "That's a good idea!" he said..
But what he can actually do is only one idea. He can't do all of it, its impossible. Impossibru!

That is why we must know which idea is the best idea.
How? By analyse all of the idea, which one is the most simple, solving a problem, and did not cost much.

Next he shows us a picture of a donkey pulling a cart because it saw a carrot hanging in front of it head, and he want to chase it.

Mr Radzi Bedu said about the reason we are doing something.
He was going to school because he scared of his dad. Not because he want to study.
He is doing a GOOD thing for a BAD reason.

He said some students copy a homework to get a good grade.
They are doing a BAD thing for a GOOD reason.

But at least he learned something in school, and the student get a good grade.

On the other hand, he try to make us to look away from the 'carrot'.
We need to look at our right and left to know if there's another fruits that 'carrot'.
We need to know if there's some others good reasons and good ways.

Which brings me to the next point.

He shows us a picture of him on a map.
He show his way from home to his office.
He use the same road everyday. Thus, he only see the same things everyday.

One day, he had a problem with some of his student and don't want to meet that student on the way home.
So he find an initiative to go home. That makes him using the different road.
Now he had seen a lot of new thing.

However, he gave us a tips.
Don't ever combine a problem with a random word.
That's a bad idea.
