.Week 6 (What I Learn).

.Week 6 (Report).

.

Again for this week, we learn some more about mind-mapping.
Mr Radzi Bedu leads the lecture this time.

He make us more understand the different between associated and logical mind map.
Even 'why using mind map is better than just regular note'.
Text is boring. He said.
Mind map use keywords and symbols.

He said people didn't think all the time. Somebody said that he didn't agree with the statement.
Mr Radzi Bedu then explains to us that people really didn't think all the time.
What we did is just our routine. Even when people ask us a question, we didn't think on all the questions to give the answer. Some of it we already know the answer. Because it is already stored in our brain.

In the morning when we wake up from sleep, we didn't think..

.Week 5 (The Japanese gadgets of the future).

.Week 5 (Japan's Gadget Failures).

.Week 5 (What I Learned).

.

What I learned in Creative Studies this week is the importance of mind mapping.

If we just use a regular note, We may not generating it into something bigger. But is we use mind map, we can get a new idea because mind map starts from center and growing in any direction compared to regular note that just grow downward.

Mind mapping is literally good for our brain. It contains elements that controlled by our left and right brain. All I can say about it is balance.

Even balance is one of the principle of design.
Not sure if it was just coincidence of it was created that way.

Just like the example between Nike and Bata. Even thought they both making the same thing, Nike are more advance than Bata.
I never thought that mind map could be that important.

Last but not least, I will still complete my other entries.

.Week 5 (Report).

.

This week in Creative Studies, we learn about mind mapping which has been introduced by Tony Buzen. Mind mapping is a great tool for idea generation and brainstorming.

If we had a good idea, we may lose it if we didn't jot it down. We can always make it as a note. But if you willing to elaborate it, Mind mapping is a great technique you can use. To have a great idea, we can structure it through mind map.

Mind map enhance both of human brain. It has data, words, list, numbers and so on for the left brain. It even has colors, rhythm, imagination and so on for the right brain.

Mr Mustapha Muzer ask us.. Why did Nike is way different with Bata?
It is because they are paying attention on Mind Mapping.

He even show us a video of a tutorial on how to make a mind map. I personally has no idea how to make a mind map. So I pay attention on the video. And what I can say to the video is..

What I'm trying to say is, I know how to make a mind map already..
But what I don't know is, how to make it more detail with less crowded.

Other than just a mind map, Mr Mustapha Muzer gave us a group assignment abot mind mapping a Mortar & Pestle.

Just wait for it.

.Week 4 (Share).

Paul Rand once said "Design is everything. Everything!" Even food can be used as a medium for art.
Thus, I would like to share some simple and creative food art.

This is a good idea for valentine day i guess.

I think its cute to put this on a bride and groom's dining table on the wedding day.

Some ideas to let kids eat vegetables.

A cow jump over the moon.

This is so cool. I think its a great idea for party.

Another way to let kids eat vegetables.
They use olive for head and legs.

This is seriously cute.
Great for party too.

Advanced version of deviled eggs.

Some breakfast idea. Simple, yet creative.

Not sure if fish or apple.

Okay the art wasn't on the banana.
But the banana skin.
How would they ever get an idea to make a cap using banana skin?
These people..

This aren't for eat. But they compose it like the banana skin are shattered.

Don't worry.. This aren't a real baby.
By the way, they said its a good idea for baby shower party.
I think its great for Halloween though.

Rice KrispyHedge
These people can't actually find a better things to do.
Thus, they make some rice crispy stands.

A gum on a beach.

A whale? Looks like a nice decoration for Nasi Kerabu.

Looks like a lunch box for disguised vegetarian vampire.
Wait.. What?

Another way of doing strawberry and chocolate dip.

Bell pepper octopus.

I seriously believe that kids will eat a cucumber shaped this way.

A cheese and ham dumbbell.
Done working out? Now eat your dumbbell.

Maybe we can put this as a gift on a dental campaign.

Man.. I think I should change my majoring choice to advertising. Lol.

.Week 4 (Questions).

.

Look at people and time to understand creativity better.
I'll take Japanese people to understand creativity better.

What traits made them creative?

We all knew that Japan country was once been blasted by atom bomb. Their country has destroy badly.

I've heard my teacher said this..

'In the moment japan was destroyed, the president stand and looking by the window at his country and his people. He cried. He said "We lose. This time we lose. But I promise we will rise again. If we cant control them with our power, we will rule the world with technology.".' Something like that.

Now just take a look how did japan when today.
They are awesome. I love japan.
Their creativity rule the world.

So I guess that's the traits made then creative. They had once been doomed. They become creative to rise back. To rule the world.

But still, I have no idea how did my teacher know that story..

What environmental condition existed?

As I said, they rise back after their country was so badly destroyed by the Americans. So that's the environmental condition that exists. The terrible war has caused them to change for the better.

What was the process of creativity?

For me, the process to achieve the level of creativity is so large. For the people of Japan, they take a lot of the elements of interest and expand into a more acceptable form. They also excels in understanding the wants and needs of consumers. Logically, they are also consumers right?

So maybe for the people of Japan, the process of achieving creative thinking is by experiencing the distress himself and find a way to fix it.

.Week 4 (What I Learned).

.

This week, I have learned about 'Karaoke Culture'.
It really make me realize that as a creative student, I must create my own style and dont just follow others.

We can take the same concept as the previous creation. But we must reinvented it into something new, useful, something more effective and make our life easier.

Just like what Leonardo Da Vinci did. He create so many new words. He did that so that he will get recognized. People will know him. To get noticed, we must contribute something to the world.

I remember Mr Mustapha Muzer said we can always be our self when inventing.
We can be creative as we want. But still, we have to be creative in certain format.
We still need to follow the rules and regulation.
We cant just do anything we like without taking seriously what people want and need.

As I said, we can always reinvented the things that already did by previous inventor.
The is so many things in the world that can be reinvented. It is how you see it.
If you know how to fix it, it worth it.

.

.Week 4 (Report).

.

The history of creativity and its significance to the society.

Mr Mustapha Muzer introduce us to 'Karaoke Culture'.
Karaoke culture mean is, we just follow what other people do without doing it with our own style.

About history of creativity, what has been created was based on the past. People reinvented thing into new version that are easier to use and more useful.

He even show us a video about current artist that are trying to find the true face of Leonardo Da Vinci based on his previous work. They compile all of his work and sort it based on picture has been told about the true face of Leonardo Da Vinci.

I'm not sure the results they found that was the true face of Leonardo Da Vinci. However, they have been trying to get answers to their questions.

He said that it is free for everyone to create. As long as we create with our own idea. But still, we have to be creative in certain format. We cant just do anything we want without fulfilling the requirement.

I jotted down something that he said.
Solving problem is like looking for valuable antiques. You will find only junk unless you know what you are looking for.

To maximize our creativity, we must learn from many. We had to connect with other peoples, talk to them.. Ask about their ideas and thought. We can form a new ideas by doing that.

We have to contribute something to the world to get noticed and recognized.

.

.Week 3 (Steven Johnson on Ted Talk).

.

Steven Johnson talks about 'Where the good idea come from'.

Actually about a few years ago, I did think about the same thing.
Where did the good idea come from? How did they ever think about that?

The one he's talking about is the new idea.
That's what I'm talking about.
What situation or environmental that make those 'light bulbs' turn on.

I guess that's why he start his speak with the picture of a coffee house.
Because as he said, that is the place where people from different background and experience hang out and gather.
It is the place where they can share their moment and can slightly give a new idea to other people that are able to create something new.

If we want to move ahead, we need to go out and look at other people. How did they live?
How you can make it better?
Or what did they think?
Is it good? Then you can make it become true.

That's how innovation happen.

I'm quite attracted when he shared a story about Darwin..
I like how he jot down every little idea he had.

That's it.
That is how good idea been created.
Note down a little idea, and a little bit of 'brain farts'..
There goes a good idea.

.Week 3 (Creative Business Cards).

.

This week, I want to share some pictures of creative design of business cards.

I don't know if this can still be considered as business card, but it is pretty cool.
And costly, of course..

I like how they put the ribbon's picture on the hole.
As everyone know, pinkie finger resemble a 'promise'.
They put the quote "Don't forget to call us" there.
Maybe as coincidence, our hand will look like a 'phone' when putting our pinkie finger inside the hole.

This so-called card looks very cute. I like how they put some little plants in their card.

This is creative. I'ts simple, but looks modern.

It's creative to make a card that shaped like a mug from above for a cafe.

Mechanical Engineer. No wonder it looks quite weird. But it's cool, right?

Radio presenter's card that looks like a classic microphone.
Maybe they use this kind of microphone when on air.

I guess that's a cavity. LOL.

Business cards, with a free bobby pin.
That's quite a 'bribe'. LOL.

Use a broken ceramics as a business cards?
That looks new to me.
And they put it in a bowl so that anyone can take it.

The same technique, put their business cards in a bowl.
But a balloon? Wow.

I really love this. I guess they have more than one service.
So we can call any department that we need.

Another 'bribe'.
Naahh.. I can call this as sample. :)

This card looks simple and 'yummy' at the same time.

This card has some art elements on it.
Leading the eye. *sigh*

A comb-shaped card for a stylist?
That's pretty cool..

It's a business card, a 'bribe' and a sample at the same time.
With some manual. = ="

It looks some kind funny to me.
A card that looks like a credit card that been cut into a half, for credit counseling service.

It's simple, but the picture are mind-blowing.
'Creative spark consulting' and a picture of a human with lightning bolt on their head.

Simple square, and no ink.

Forensic evidence, anyone?

A divorce lawyer. Even their card can be separated.

A part of that, there's a post-marriage counselling.
I wonder how if these both business was held by a spouses.
Each for a person.

Its quite simple, but still creative.

It means, 'move your body'.

Hidden message? LOL.

Well, even tough these cards looks pretty cool and creative, I guess I'll more prefer to have a normal card that are easier to keep in a purse. So that people wont lost my business card.
